ESRI GIS Integration | Powerful New Features!
|
 The APOS Integration Kit for ESRI GIS bridges ESRI GIS (geographical information system) with Business Objects, enabling a new form of 'location intelligence'.
This powerful bi-directional bridge between two industry-leading business intelligence solutions allows such innovative solutions as a 'side-by-side' presentation, where a map and a report are side by side in one view, with the ability to click on the report to refresh the map, or click on the map to refresh the report.
ESRI to BusinessObjects Enterprise Connection – now available:
- Users can now pick as many features as needed in the ESRI select tool and pass them all to a report without being limited by the length of a URL. Users can access this feature either using the ActiveX or Java viewers if viewing Crystal Reports on demand or the administrator can turn on the "run instances in the background" feature which will allow them to view any report type.

APOS Select Tool for ArcGIS Server – now available:
- Custom Selectors – a list of custom selectors can now be defined by referring to a list of features on a particular layer. A list of custom selectors will be shown within the select tool and can be used to select features within their boundaries. For example, all the zip codes can be selected within the path of a hurricane.
- A default and layer specific custom fill, color, and border can be defined for selections that are displayed on the map.
- Visible selection areas – users can now turn on visible selection areas. The areas drawn by the user to select features will remain visible until the selection is cleared. A toggle lets the user hide and show those areas while they work. The administrator can control the color, fill, alpha, and border for those areas.
- Optimization – additional optimization to speed up the initial load of the select tool within the map, especially in version 9.3 of ArcGIS Server.

APOS ESRI Flex Viewer – now available:
- New buttons added for panning along the border of the viewer.
- Users can now control hiding and showing of toolbars and the coordinates box. This helps when the viewer needs to be placed in smaller areas like a dashboard panel or a small area within a report. The users can turn the toolbars back on from the menu if they need them.
- Users can now add a buffer size for points. When the automatic zoom is turned on and the displayed features are points the provided buffer will be used to calculate the appropriate extent.
- Drill down zoom – the map will now zoom to a union of the object that was clicked on and the objects that are shown on the drill down target. This is helpful when drilling down from a point.
- The draw layer can now participate in drill down as the first layer only. This enables building a report that draws points from a database (or geo-codes on the fly addresses) on the draw layer and then drill down and run a query about those points.

ESRI Dashboard Builder Integration Wizard – now available:
- Thematic Mapping: all available fields in queries are now in a drop down instead of having to type the field name. There is a refresh button next to each drop down to update the list.
- Support for default point buffer – When the automatic zoom is turned on and the displayed features are points the provided buffer will be used to calculate the appropriate extent.
- New Toolbars section to allow the user to choose which toolbars are displayed.

ESRI HTML Wizard – coming soon:
- This is a new feature for the Integration Kit for ESRI GIS. This new wizard lets the user build and maintain HTML pages that run the APOS ESRI Flex Viewer. The user can configure all the settings for the viewer and deploy the HTML page anywhere they need to.
